Sweet & melodic pop/rock samples juxtaposed with dreary, melancholic instrumentals is something I adore, and this album does such a great job of it. Silicon, Amethyst and Fluorite are the highlights for me. Favorite track: (fluorite) - 萤石.

Festive Orange Limited to 50 copies.

This installment, much like the album itself, will be short and sweet.

If phantom psalms was the low point, then happy anniversary serves at the manic counterpart. This album feels spastic, nostalgic, dreamy, and surreal. It is all over the place, as if the artist's mind was going a million miles an hour while creating it. The lofi-type beats mixed with 8 bit and acoustic guitar highlight just part of the sampling and experimentation this album explores.

This poem was given with the release:

"What a happy anniversary
What a joyous span of time
What a wonderful evening
With your hand in mine

You tell me everything that you want to say
You let it all out, put it all on display
I can't say a word, my mind goes blank
I want to shed tears, say words, give thanks

I had everything in place; My band was on tour and we were heading down the east coast of the United States just over a month ago. I had the address scoped out and ready - we would stop at the mental institution from which the letter I received had been sent from.

But not only did a hurricane hit at the exact time I was supposed to drive south through Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas. Next up would have been Georgia, the state in which the mental asylum existed.

And then our engine died. It would have cost us several thousand dollars to fix, and so instead of finally getting to the bottom of my mysterious letter from begotten, we high-tailed it home to Minneapolis from Syracuse, New York.

BUT...I did receive an email from begotten finally. It was short and it was simple. But to actually get some communication after such a long silence felt amazing. It said the following;

"Thank you. I am still alive. I am okay for now."

Just those simple lines gave me so much joy. I'm glad that they are please with how I am handling their releases. I was nearly brought to tears.

At this point in time, I have yet to respond. The email was sort of final sounding, but I have so many questions. I will probably take the next couple of weeks to figure out exactly what I want to say and how I want to say it. But in any case, I will continue to keep everyone updated on the situation.

It's like a holiday but everything is misplaced. The album has a consistent chill and standard vaporwave mood, but there is something different that I can hear in this album that feels unique. Great sample selection with the track list sounding like how the cover art looks. I find this album utterly disturbing, and I bloody love it. mr_tristringle
